TY - BOOK AU - Brion,Charles TI - A transatlantic modernist poetry: Blaise Cendrars’s Feuilles de route PY - 2018///. N1 - 18 N2 - Cendrars discovered Brazil in 1924 and related this visit in a collection of poems: Feuilles de route. He paints Brazil as a tropical and sensual, multiracial and colorful country, blending nature and dizzying human activity. Futurism, simultaneism, and the praise of a melting pot (a metaphor for his artistic work) find an adequate medium of expression there. We study Feuilles de route as a transatlantic gaze directed at a “second spiritual homeland” and as the realization of modernist aspirations, distinguishing modernism as a form, which Cendrars brings with him to Brazil, and as a renewal of inspiration (found in Brazil), which would then be translated into prose. Cendrars thus became more modern than modernist UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-revue-de-litterature-comparee-2018-2-page-137?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
