Visual Perceptions: Group Links and Transsubjective Dimension through Painting
- 2006.

Based on the hypothesis of a group psychical apparatus, the author uses empirical data to illustrate the psychological functioning of a group that uses painting. The observed avoidance of contacts between men and women in such situations of communication originate from the group’s unconscious fantasy of desiring to touch each other. The author presents this contact avoidance as a meta-defense mechanism of the group fantasy against breaking bonds. The breakthrough of the repressed stems from a displacement mechanism allowing the imaginary fulfillment of the group’s unconscious desires through a form symbolized by pictorial production.
