N2  - While the question of music was conflictual in the early stages of psychoanalysis, authors such as Ferenczi were quickly in favour of giving sounds a place in the study of the unconscious. The purpose of this article is to discuss the use of musical mediation in a therapeutic group, by focusing on the interaction between the verbal and pre-verbal elements that can be found in songs. Seen first from an individual and then from a group perspective, this question will open the door to the patients’ progress towards symbolic elaboration. Finally, a clinical case will show us how rhythm, music and text are able to subsume the problems of a patient within the therapeutic group
