N2  - This paper examines the topic of future generation adequacy in Belgium and scrutinizes not only its evolution under unchanged policy (in a first scenario) but also the impact of imposing more stringent greenhouse gas emission reduction targets on the energy system (in a second scenario). The article focuses on three research questions : whether these two scenarios will meet ENTSO-E’s deterministic definition of generation adequacy under normal conditions ; what this induces in terms of investment expenditures ; and if the energy-only market will suffice in triggering this amount of investment.
