Non-take up to diagnosis and care in Alzheimer's disease

<br/><br/> The prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and its psychological and social consequences raise questions about access to preventive assessment, diagnosis, and even drug treatments, specialised support care and assistance with daily life that can be offered to people. Within the framework of a call for projects by the Alzheimer’s Plan Foundation, we sought to understand the reasons for the random and not very widespread use of this “care offer”, in the case of an illness that affects both patients and their families. The qualitative survey of a panel of 38 people with signs suggestive of a neurodegenerative disease made it possible to analyse the way in which these people take up or turn away from the services available to them. It highlights the importance of life trajectories and the weight of family and professional interactions, thus completing the general analysis of the phenomenon of non-use. Its main result is to underline the importance of "non-adherence" as the main explanation for intentional non-application.
