The Child in the Role of the Mother: The Case of Roland Barthes - 2009.

75

This paper means to trace the representation of the maternal position of Barthes through his writings up to La Chambre Claire. In spite of the reputation he has of being the eternal child of his mother, Roland Barthes should rather be seen as playing the role of the mother of his own mother who never resisted her desire. The paper focuses on maternal ravages on a literary critic.
