The maternal request for a therapy for her child can lead the latter to play the role, in a non-exclusive way, of the one who both refuses to assume the therapy and assumes it too well. This ambiguity, evidenced by a pre adolescent child, illustrates his subjection to the demand of the other and raises the issue of the function of the symptom.
