What type of discourse does Lacan use in his Seminars? Should it be described as the discourse of the analysand to define its import? Is it not involved, according to a modality yet to be specified, in Lacan’s four discourses, which he claims are the only possible ones? By raising these questions, we may eventually grasp the ethical stance that, in Lacan’s eyes, governed the way he dispensed his teachings.
