How do children and parents respond to knowledge about genes, and how will the possibilities of modifying genes before the birth of a child affect self-concepts and relationships in the future? This text examines children’s ambitions at a time of a “neurogenetic reality” and the anxieties related to it. It also analyzes a number of legal cases where parents allege that their child was created as a result of a “wrongful birth.”
