Desmaret-Bastien,

The imaginary of big data in contemporary modern societies - 2020.

26

Through the lens of Laurent Alexandre’s La guerre des intelligences: Intelligence Artificielle versus Intelligence Humaine (2017) and Yuval Noah Harari’s Homo Deus (2015), this article considers the question of the imaginary of digital society, its fantasy and reality, and its current and future practices. The analysis of these texts concerning contemporary thought on digital issues allows for a comparison of contradictory works. Is the digitalization of society leading to a mechanical future for humanity, or is it a space for sharing new ways of thinking? To what extent do technological tools redefine the contours of epistemology and enhance human relationships with mechanical objects that augment reality? We must navigate how to find meaning in the radical newness of developing technology and understand the framework of the current global revolution, forcing us to think differently about humankind’s place in the world.
