N1 - 50 N2 - By tracking the conditions in which a “new circus”, based on innovation and creation principles and supported by public funding, has been developed, this paper analyzes change in the circus world, an art world yet to investigate. It shows how the introduction of aesthetic conventions taken from the theater leads to a higher division of artistic labor and a rationalization of activity, especially for large companies.
