N2  - The development of the geriatrics portion of the third national health plan in the Nord-Pas de Calais presented an interesting opportunity to analyse the management of health care for an ageing population in one of France’s youngest regions. This work served as a means to establish recommendations for the improvement of the organisation and planning of health care services for this particular population group in the region. In this article reporting on the study’s outcomes, the authors present the results on the management of health care for elderly people in hospitals and other short term medical care facilities
