TY - BOOK AU - Moreno-Dávila,Norberto TI - The Suicidal Patient, His Family, and His Doctor PY - 2010///. N1 - 51 N2 - In a systemic lineage, we interrogate the representation of suicide that people with suicidal tendencies have, and the impact of suicide on their families and their doctor. We also question the meaning of suicide to their relatives. Our practice as psychiatrists in a general hospital leads us also to try to understand the image and impact of suicide on the medical staff who is constantly trying to save lives, while patients choose death. This act sends a strong message of loss of hope and absence of prospects for suicidal people. It has also a strong emotional impact on health practitioners and it frequently makes them feel helpless. It also concerns the image of death among doctors. In the first section, we will discuss the adopted attitudes in the psychiatric liaison service in Lausanne. Then, we will try to develop a procedure for taking care of suicidal patients, their families, and the medical staff, attending to them in a systemic approach. This is a great ethical and human responsibility for all health practitioners UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-therapie-familiale-2010-4-page-439?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
