Losses and Strengths in the New Families: The Step Families Case
- 2011.
61
New families are constantly exposed to interruptions and/or relational breakdown such as separation and or divorce. These situations can generate feelings of loss that require an often complex emotional elaboration. Faced with this work, stepfamilies can live in a sort of suspended time, observable either at the interactional as well as at the representational level. Using a clinical case and a discourse analysis realized with Alceste software, we wish to demonstrate the interest on a study of the critical transition in family recompositions, such as the remarriage and step-parenting, in terms of loss management and the construction of new belongings.
