The purpose of this article is to read Fritz Zorn’s masterpiece Mars to get a better understanding of what is hidden behind the expression of an “education to death”. Zorn’s text partly stems from an anti-modern rhetoric, but it also conveys a Nietzschean vision of the will to power that needs to be interpreted. Therefore, the article will be about sickness, death, rebirth, and joy all at the same time. Finally, I would add that this book has haunted me for more than forty years, since I read it when I was a teenager, and that this personal dimension is not absent from this academic text.
