N1 - 76 N2 - The ways boys dress play an important role in the inscription of masculinity in boys’ bodies during childhood. Yet such an inscription does not take place in an identical manner throughout social space. The article analyzes this variation by focusing on parents of middle-class positions in respect of three types of clothes socially coded as masculine. It highlights the existence of several dividing lines which refer to the educational practices of families and parents’ position with regard to legitimate culture. It also shows that parents who disapprove these menswear are looking for a form of social distinction more than for a distance to gender norms UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-terrains-et-travaux-2015-2-page-41?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
