The paper presents the Centre for Socio-Political Data (CDSP) expertise in the anonymisation of survey data in sociology and political science over the past fifteen years. Based on a few typical cases, the paper focuses on the dilemmas and difficulties encountered when it comes to disseminate survey materials (mainly questionnaires or interviews) – intended for the scientific and academic communities, including students. Dwelling on this experience, the paper addresses all the implications of opening data, be they in disciplinary, methodological, ethical or human resource terms.
