Apprenti médecin, ce dernier se tourne vers la neurologie pour en faire bientôt son activité principale et la voie de son ambition. Les circonstances de ce premier tournant font resurgir la figure singulière de son aîné dans la carrière, Nathan Weiss, dont le suicide précipite une décision et un engagement scientifique déterminant pour la suite de son parcours intellectuel.  Meynert’s teaching in psychiatry captured Sigmund Freud’s interest over anything else when he was a student. As a trainee doctor, he was drawn towards neurology and quickly made it his principal activity and the path to his ambition. The circumstances of this first turning point bring forward the singular figure of his professional elder, Nathan Weiss, whose suicide precipitated a decision and a scientific commitment that was decisive for the developments of his intellectual career.
