<br/><br/> C’est dans La Question de l’analyse profane, où Freud défend l’indépendance de la psychanalyse face à la médecine, qu’il aborde sa conception de « la formation la plus appropriée ». Il souligne la nécessité pour chaque analyste de faire une analyse personnelle et se montre réticent envers une tentation de réglementation rigide de la psychanalyse. La règle fondamentale énoncée par Freud exclut tout recours à une position théorique de savoir face au patient, dans le cadre de la cure, et exige que le psychanalyste soit capable de se laisser assigner à la place psychique d’où l’analysant puisse être entendu.  In The Question of lay analysis , where Freud asserts the independence of psychoanalysis from medicine, he puts forwards his view of the “most appropriate training”. He highlights the need for each psychoanalyst to undergo analysis and seems doubtful about a rigid regulation of psychoanalysis. The fundamental rule highlighted by Freud excludes any recourse to a theoretical position of knowledge regarding the patient within the framework of the therapy, and requires that the psychoanalyst be able to be assigned the psycho-logical place from where the analysand might be heard.
