Récit d’une expérience à l’hôpital psychiatrique de Melen, au Gabon, où dialoguent « médecine des Blancs » et « médecine des Noirs », et où les soignants font figure de pionniers en Afrique centrale, malgré des conditions d’exercice difficiles.  How can traditional therapies and psychotherapy co-exist in Africa ? How can we take traditional beliefs into account in a psychotherapeutic treatment? Can ethnic conflicts be addressed ? What are the points of contact between the culture and the subject ? This is an account of the experience in a psychiatric hospital in Melen, Gabon, where “white” and “black” medicine come into dialogue with each other, and where the work of the staff represents a pioneering effort in Central Africa, despite the unfavorable work conditions.
