Comment et pourquoi la religion monothéiste chrétienne s’est-elle dotée d’un antithéos face au dieu unique, la reprochant du manichéisme considéré, par elle-même, comme hérétique ?Sans prétendre apporter des développements à ces questions qui nécessiteraient des volumes entiers, l’article cherche à aborder la question du diable sous un angle justement autre que manichéen.  The plurality of the devil’s names in the Old and New Testament signals the difficulty of pinning down the concept he represents. How and why has the monotheist Christian religion acquired this counterpart to the Only God, thus being guilty of the Manicheism it itself condemns as a form of heresy ? Without claiming to answer these questions, which would require many separate volumes, this article tries to approach the question of the devil from precisely a non-Manichean perspective.
