N2  - Far from a determinism that would imply a slow deterioration in the clinical picture of schizophrenia, the main longitudinal studies on the future of individuals have shown that it is possible to recover in terms of functional remission: that is, the possibility of living an “ordinary” life, with or without residual symptoms. The concept of recovery is a hope for people suffering from mental illnesses, as well as an important vector of the renewal of practices and the logics of support. Studying the pathways between the health sector and the medico-social sector requires first of all listening to those who are “institutionalized,” who have sometimes been living in hospital for several years. Hope and ordinary desire lurk at the heart of the extraordinary in terms of symptomatology. Public policies in mental health today support this transition to the medico-social sector for individuals. My experience as a clinical psychologist in a medico-social institution allowed me to observe this time of transition, rich in subjective reworkings. One of the important clinical signs is that of this newfound ability to “silence” symptoms. In this article, we will propose a clinical reflection based on this observation, which should be examined with regard to the psychic mechanisms at play
