Abortions and Sexual Abuse: A Qualitative Study

<br/><br/> The link between abortions and sexual abuse is known in foreign literature, while in France it is hardly ever mentioned. This study’s purpose is to determine whether the link is known and addressed by general practitioners, and the reasons behind it. In this qualitative study, semi-structured individual interviews were conducted with 30 doctors in the region of Ile-de-France. The doctors interviewed have a representation of abortions and of the women that have them that reveals a misunderstanding of the frequency, gravity, and care of abuse. They relate to the subject and are willing to do a training course.
