<br/><br/> Coinage is not the only form of money. Should coinage be thus considered as an invention or as an innovation? Specialists questioned the origins of coinage (where, when, how and why?), that is what coinage does. Yet historians have hardly considered what coinage is. Moreover, studying the creation of coinage is also studying money, which cannot be limited to its economic or anthropological dimensions.
