N2  - The Pnyx hill was not only one of the most important spheres of decision but also a unique place of knowledge in the Athenian democracy. Once the citizens gathered there, the operation of the assembly enabled a form of speaking and debating in which a specifically political knowledge was configured. This procedure entailed speakers and audiences interacting to constitute a collective, decision-making agent. In this paper, this interaction is studied by investigating the function of persuasion in the work of the respective roles
