Violence in Transcultural Couples and Families - 2010.

92

Violence can happen between a mixed race or trans-cultural couple and their own families, full of hatred or of coldness. Each family wanting to safeguard its “own” culture, a war of influence can exist in the process of transmission. These families, from different geographic and social sphere may infringe on the couple’s life. Threatened in its internal objects by family pressure and narcissistic stakes, the couple could face survival issues. A clinical case will show the violence of the marital link and the violence transmitted to the children. The psychoanalytic work done with these couples and families requires a transference of “trans-cultural” type.
