In this article, the author studies the paradoxical nature of forms of hatred which are not “inhabited”. This study is based on material drawn from individual psychoanalytic sessions and on literary examples. The article presents the psychodynamic structure of one specific type of hatred, which is referred to as “white hatred”, and which may manifest itself through the affect of contempt. This specific type of hatred refers to a psychic functioning which is about survival. It would be the sign of a major failure, psychically transmitted, to digest subjective experience and to relate to temporality.
