This article sheds light on how three professional groups involved in the alien law litigation (namely lawyers, association workers, and administrative judges, along with their assistants) signify their practice intermediaries of migration law and its judiciarisation. The analysis of their professional ethos reveals four types of meaning that define their area and choice of action. Moreover, through a play of interactions and positioning in opposition and in dialogue, this work on meaning also highlights reciprocal representations and the cleavages that exist between and within these three professional groups. Through this comprehensive analysis, the article shows that the biographical trajectories of such intermediaries and their vision of law and rights inform the application of the law.
