<br/><br/> Constantly cited in order to illustrate the brutality of the repression endured by the Bretons in 1675 following the revolts commonly known as du Papier timbré and des Bonnets rouges, can the Marquise de Sévigné’s letters be considered reliable sources? This article aims to address this question by closely examining, in light of the current state of knowledge about this crisis, the approximately forty letters in which, often briefly, the marquise discussed the Breton crisis and how it was resolved.
