N2  - With a few exceptions, the renewed critical interest for François Béroalde de Verville’s vast literary production has hardly dealt with two important aspects: its satirical bent and its debt toward Lucian of Samosata. My study proposes a closer look at three of the Tourangeau polymath’s major texts, namely Le Palais des curieux, Le Voyage des princes fortunés, and Le Moyen de parvenir, within the framework of Lucian’s spoudaiogeloion and Menippean mixture in order to discern more thoroughly the nature of Verville’s satirical rhetoric
