N2  - The present article proposes a critical study of Madeleine de Scudéry’s “Histoire de Sapho” from the perspective of queer studies. It aims to explore three hypotheses, according to which: a) the author uses this text to put forward a form of resistance to the heterosexual culture which was in the process of being imposed at that time, by developing two alternative “Histoire de Sapho” from the perspective of queer studies. It aims to explore three hypotheses, according to which: a) the author uses this text to oppose a form of resistance to the heterosexual culture which was in the process of being imposed at that time, by developing two alternative scenarios to love marriage (amour tendre on the one hand, amitié on the other); b) the “Histoire de Sapho” distinguishes itself from other works of the time and commits literary historians to reintroduce the distinction between préciosité and galanterie; c) the text actually legitimises the critical approach to which it is subjected by means of a mise en abyme device, removing the suspicion of anachronism that weighs on queer studies
