N2  - The aim of this paper is to empirically evaluate the impact of small island developing states’ (SIDS) regional trade agreements on bilateral trade flows between SIDS and other member countries at the aggregate and disaggregated levels over the period 1962–2014. We focused our estimates on primary products due to their strong concentration in the trade specialization of most SIDS. Based on a panel data structural gravity model, we found that these regional trade agreements had heterogeneous effects on SIDS’ intra-zone trade flows. These results varied depending on the type of trade agreement (non-reciprocal, reciprocal), the trading partners’ stage of development (North-South, South-South), and the products in question. Trade integration through these agreements seems to have had a mixed impact on SIDS’ intra-zone primary products trade.JEL codes: F13, F15, P48, C23
