Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, foster families and the children in their care have found themselves in an unprecedented situation, living together 24/7. How have foster parents looking after children in care managed to get through this uniquely challenging time? We seek to provide some answers by presenting some of the results of a study of foster parents conducted during the lockdown in April 2020. The results show that despite deep feelings of loneliness and abandonment among foster parents, they have honored their commitments by looking after children and young people in their care in a confined space despite institutional turmoil.
