TY - BOOK AU - Bodin,Cyrille TI - Zetetics or the multiple uses of a scientistic account of the social world PY - 2022///. N1 - 66 N2 - In the space of a few decades, the zetetics movement has taken over the media when it comes to “thinking” about health or environmental controversies. Activists, mediators, journalists, and “experts” of all kinds harness its language to assert their claims, presented as “scientific,” as part of a media agenda. However, zetetics exhibits all the characteristics of scientism, in that it uses a naturalization of scientific enunciation in order to gain credence. The zetetic posture exempts the movement from all reflexivity and gives it the possibility of speaking “in the name of Science” without having to follow the methodological, deontological, or communicational norms governing the production of knowledge by contemporary sciences. Based on a sometimes-strategic ignorance, zetetics takes the form of a narrative matrix enabling the construction of a social fiction. Although it claims to be “neutral,” “rational,” and “descriptive” of the world as a whole, particularly in its social and cultural dimensions, it presents itself rather as a performative narrative, constructing a “reality” that conforms to the views and interests of its enunciators UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-les-enjeux-de-l-information-et-de-la-communication-2021-S2-page-77?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
