<br/><br/> This short survey could contribute firstly to throw some light upon multilingualism in the Jewish world by emphasizing the key role of Hebrew and its representation in the course of time ; and secondly, in more general terms, to enrich the methodological approach to multilingualism by stressing the importance of subjective factors in the definition of languages.
