L’encyclique Laudato si’ réserve ce vocable à l’humain mais reconnaît une « valeur propre » aux autres créatures en soulignant une perspective relationnelle. L’attention au « cri de la terre », mis en parallèle avec le « cri des pauvres », invite à un décentrement, une conversion du regard à contrepied de l’attitude dominatrice.
