Le courant se veut une alternative globale de gouvernement et de pilotage de la société aux propositions occidentales. Les Frères Musulmans, dans leurs différentes acceptions nationales, cherchent à imposer un projet politique aux États arabes et à l’Occident fondé sur une lecture radicale du Coran.
