N2  - La création d’un bureau de l’agence Havas à Rio de Janeiro en 1874 modifie le traitement de l’actualité internationale dans les grands quotidiens de la capitale. Une telle innovation reconfigure le rapport à l’espace et au temps au Brésil, du fait d’une circulation accélérée de l’information, comme l’atteste l’annonce de la mort de Victor Hugo ou de dom Pedro II à Paris. Si la dépêche impose son tempo, elle ne bouleverse pas pour autant complètement le traitement de ces actualités internationales du fait des critiques dont elle est l’objet et de son coût prohibitif, comme en témoignent les échos de la conquête française de Madagascar dans la presse au Brésil; The creation of an office of the Havas agency in Rio de Janeiro in 1874 modified the way international news was covered by major newspapers in the capital. Such an innovation reshaped the representations of time and space in Brazil due to the accelerated circulation of news, as evidenced by the announcement of the deaths of Victor Hugo and of Dom Pedro II in Paris. While dispatches imposed a new rhythm, they did not dramatically change the way international news was covered, because of the criticism they received and their prohibitive costs, as demonstrated by coverage of the French conquest of Madagascar in the Brazilian press
