This article retraces the evolution of the French review ‘Psychanalyse à l’Université’ which echoes the peregrinations of Psychoanalysis within Higher Education over the years.The article then goes on to underline the significance of creating an independent scientific structure that is recognised as such, in which psychoanalytical theories can be transmitted, elaborated and debated upon independently of any other public or private institution whose aim it might be to annex or gain a monopoly over them.
