<br/><br/> Goetz Nordbruch sets out to show how nowadays the Arab world seems obsessed by Nazism and its history whereas no major study of the topic has ever been produced locally. Mein Kampf has been published countless times in Arabic. As for the Holocaust, it is either depicted as a ‘Jewish invention' r a ‘Jewish exaggeration'. It is hardly surprising, then, that authors such as Norman Finkelstein have at times been translated into Arabic before even being rendered in German and other European languages. Nor that the work of Frenchman Roger Garaudy, Les Mythes fondateurs de la politique israélienne [the founding myths of Israeli policy] (1995) is available locally from six publishing houses. According to Nordbruch, in its attempts at negating outright, downplaying the Jewish catastrophe or claiming that it was the work of the Zionists themselves, the Arab world in this respect at least appears to be foundering into intellectual darkness.
