<br/><br/> À Rio+20, il manquera un homme qui, toute sa vie, fit de la protection de l’environnement et de la promotion du développement durable moins un combat qu’un engagement et une conviction indéfectibles. Tous ceux qui ont eu le privilège d’approcher Serge Antoine, d’échanger avec lui, de travailler à ses côtés savent l’exigence qui était la sienne, mais aussi l’optimisme dont il voulait faire preuve, même si son réalisme et sa clairvoyance lui firent déclarer en 2004 que « si nous continuons à ne rien changer, dans deux ou trois cents ans, il risque de n’y avoir plus d’humains sur cette Terre. Le développement durable, les Nations unies, mais aussi les États, sont d’une lenteur épouvantable. »1  One man will be absent at Rio+20, who, all his life, showed his unrelenting conviction and commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable development. All those who have had the privilege of approaching Serge Antoine, of speaking with him, of working by his side, know his determination, but also the optimistic outlook his wished to adopt, despite the realism and foresight which brought him to declare in 2004 : “If we change nothing, in two or three hundred years time, mankind may disappear from Earth. Sustainable development, the United Nations, but also individual States, are terribly slow to react.”1
