Ce serait une erreur et une illusion de croire en une écoute analytique entièrement «purifiée» ou «libérée» de toute influence extérieure à la séance. La principale qualité du psychanalyste en position d’écouter l’analysant serait sa capacité à reconnaître et accepter ses propres mouvements identificatoires, allant en permanence des identifications culturelles les plus élevées aux identifications narcissiques les moins élaborées.  The Ideal of the Psychoanalyst The ideal of the psychoanalyst is an important factor in analysis. It would be naïve to think that the analyst listens to the analysand in a ‘purified’or ‘unshackled’manner, free from all exterior influence. For the analyst’s greatest quality in listening lies in the capacity to identify and accept his or her own identifications with the analysand, identifications ranging from the most lofty cultural affinities to the least elaborated narcissistic identifications.
