N2  - L’engagement en littérature a été traité par Jean-Paul Sartre. Nazisme et stalinisme en présentent un visage particulier en la personne de deux poètes, Friedrich Hölderlin côté allemand (cent ans après sa mort, les nazis le confisquant au service de leur idéologie), Ossip Mandelstam côté russe (Staline le faisant emprisonner après qu’il eut écrit une épigramme contre lui). Pendant la deuxième guerre, Gertrude Stein écrit son roman Mrs Reynolds, qui fait d’Hitler et Staline des personnages de fiction; The question of engagement in literature was studied by Jean-Paul Sartre. Nazism and Stalinism present a highly individual expression of this in the form of two poets - Friedrich Hölderlin on the German side (the Nazis appropriated his thinking to serve their own ideology a hundred years after his death) and Ossip Mandelstam on the Russian side (Stalin had him imprisoned when he wrote an epigram against him). During the Second World War, Gertrude Stein penned her novel Mrs Reynolds, thereby turning Hitler and Stalin into fictional characters
