IntroductionCertains jeunes patients présentant un décalage squelettique important avec un fort impact morpho-esthétique et psychologique peuvent avoir besoin d'une correction chirurgicale pendant leur croissance. Matériels et méthodesUne bonne compréhension de la croissance faciale, des différentes options de traitement et des effets de la chirurgie sur le schéma de croissance postopératoire permettra au praticien d'utiliser la technique la plus adaptée à chacun de ses patients et d'améliorer les résultats thérapeutiques à long terme. RésultatsLa chirurgie dite « interceptive » pourra donc être envisagée dans les cas de dysmorphies squelettiques sévères d'origine secondaire ou fonctionnelle. Elle aboutira à une normalisation précoce avec pour conséquence immédiate une rupture de la spirale « dysmorpho-dysfonctionnelle ».
