RésuméDepuis le début des années quatre-vingt-dix, les interventions d’archéologie préventive se sont multipliées sur le territoire de la commune de Thérouanne, avec près d’une trentaine de diagnostics et six fouilles ou évaluations. Les données accumulées et leur cartographie permettent aujourd’hui de mieux appréhender l’extension du chef-lieu de la Civitas Morinorum ou de ses quartiers périurbains et d’avancer de nouvelles hypothèses sur la topographie de la ville aux différentes périodes de l’Antiquité.

The Contribution of Preventive Archaeology to the knowledge of the Antique Topography of the City of ThérouanneSince the early 1990s, preventive archeology operations (that is excavation and recording in advance of development) have repeatedly been carried out on the territory of the commune of Thérouanne, with nearly thirty cases of diagnostic recording and six excavations or assessments. The data thus gathered and their mapping thereby enables us to now understand more clearly the development of the capital city of the Civitas Morinorum and its outer-urban districts and to put forward new hypotheses on the topography of the city at the various periods of Antiquity.
