What are the dynamics at play between space and creativity? To answer this question, we explore the polarities experienced within a creative space—TRAKK in Belgium—using Jullien’s theoretical framework (2012, 2018). Based on his philosophy of space, we develop an original methodology to study experiential space. Our findings reveal four key polarities experienced by both the space and its inhabitants: Permanence & Variation, Densification & Dilatation, Depth & Lightness, and Light & Shadow. Each polarity activates a behavioural dynamic and produces a spatial movement, contributing to the creative dynamics of the space. We conclude by discussing the role of spatial design in fostering creativity, along with practical guidance for managers in creative space design.
