Cet article aborde les questions liées aux transformations de la matrice familiale et leurs effets sur les individus et les familles dont l’histoire récente est traversée par la migration choisie ou forcée, comme celle des demandeurs d’asile et des réfugiés. Sont discutés les aspects qui influencent les individus dans leur insertion dans une nouvelle culture. Les éléments de la matrice familiale qui peuvent favoriser ou défavoriser leur acculturation apparaissent dans le travail psychothérapeutique, en particulier en consultation d’ethnopsychothérapie. Les apports théoriques sont étayés par une situation clinique en consultation d’ethnopsychothérapie aux Pays-Bas.

THE FAMILY MATRIX IN IMMIGRATION : TRAUMA AND RESILIENCE This article addresses questions relating to changes in the family matrix and their effects on whole families and their individual members who have been marked by a recent history of immigration, especially in the case of the asylum seekers and refugees. The positive and negative aspects that influence the individuals in their acculturation are discussed. Those elements of the family matrix that can foster or hinder their acculturation emerge through psycho-therapeutic work, especially through ethnopsychotherapy. These theoretical contributions are illustrated by clinical cases of ethnopsychotherapy sessions in the Netherlands.
