Le fait que l’islam soit une religion sans clergé ni intercesseur auprès de Dieu implique qu’il y ait plusieurs interprétations des énoncés du Coran, texte sacré des musulmans et à prendre en compte les pratiques religieuses en fonction des époques, des lieux et des contextes et plus particulièrement l’endogamie qui a longtemps imposé le mariage entre cousins. Le Coran prescrit la sexualité de personnes de sexes différents dans le mariage et rejette formellement toutes les autres pratiques. Certains théologiens comme Ghazali ont affirmé que la sexualité dans le mariage offre un avant-goût du Paradis pour récompenser la piété des croyants. Certains courants d’un islam populaire ont décrit le Paradis selon leur désir. Ce Paradis promis a une fonction de consolation par rapport à la vie difficile menée ici-bas.

The fact that Islam has no clergy or intercessor with God means that the verses of the Quran, the sacred text of Muslims, are open to multiple interpretations and should be understood from the perspective of the specified religious practices of given eras, places and contexts, most particularly the passages concerning endogamy which for years imposed marriage between cousins. The Quran prescribes sexual relations between people of different sexes in marriage and finally rejects any other sexual practice. Some theologians, among whom Ghazali, have asserted that sexuality within marriage offers a foretaste of Paradise as a means of recompensing believers for their piety, Some currents in popular Islam have described Paradise according their own desires. The promise of Paradise is seen as a consolation in the light of the vicissitudes of earthly life.

Essendo l’islam una religione senza clero né intercessore presso Dio, ci sono parecchie interpretazioni del Corano, testo sacro dei musulmani. Bisogna tener conto anche delle pratiche religiose secondo l’epoca, il luogo e il contesto: più particolarmente l’endogamia ha spesso imposto il matrimonio tra cugini. Il Corano prescrive la sessualità di persone di sessi diversi nel matrimonio e proscrive formalmente ogni altra pratica. Alcuni teologi come Ghazali hanno affermato che la sessualità nel matrimonio offre un anticipo di paradiso per ricompensare la pietà dei credenti. Alcune correnti di un islam popolare hanno descritto il paradiso secondo il proprio desiderio. Questo paradiso promesso ha una funzione di consolazione rispetto alla difficile vita terrena.
