Il n’existe toujours pas en Belgique, en cette fin 2007, de législation réglementant l’exercice de la psychothérapie et de la psychanalyse. La négation de la part des pouvoirs publics de la spécificité de la psychanalyse dans l’élaboration du dernier projet de loi du ministre de la Santé (Rudy Demotte) a conduit l’ensemble des associations belges de psychanalyse à s’organiser au sein d’une fédération: la FABEP, ou fédération des associations belges de psychanalyse. Cette association a pour objectif principal que les psychanalystes présentent une position commune face aux représentants politiques et soient reconnus comme interlocuteurs incontournables pour les projets à venir. Les conceptions que chaque association entretient avec la question de la santé mentale et de la psychothérapie dessinent des positions différentes au sein de la fédération.

Sylvain Gross – Belgian Psychoanalysts in the Eyes of the Law Summary: At the time of writing this article, in late 2007, there is as yet no law in Belgium regulating the practice of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. The clear refusal on the part of the powers that be to accept the specificities of analysis in the last draft of the bill set forward by the Health Secretary (Rudy Demotte) led Belgian psychoanalytical associations in their entirety to come together and form a Federation, the FABEP, or Federation of Belgian Psychoanalytical Associations. Our aim is to ensure that psychoanalysts show a coherent and united front before the politicians called upon to legislate and that analysts come to be recognised as essential partners for future projects. The position of each association within the Federation towards such questions as mental health and psychotherapy vary widely.
