Cet article examine et discute un passage fameux de la lettre KBo 1.10+, écrite par le roi hittite Hattušili III au roi kassite Kadašman-Enlil II. Dans ce passage débattu, le prêt d’un ‘sculpteur’ (fabricant d’images) est demandé. Dans la première partie de cette contribution, les interprétations suggérées par plusieurs savants sur ce sujet sont analysées ; dans la seconde partie une révision du texte original est proposée et différentes hypothèses sont prises en compte.

Sculptors in or from Hattuša?The paper examines and discusses a famous passage in the letter KBo 1.10+, written by the Hittite king Hattušili III to the Kassite king Kadašman-Enlil II. In this debated passage the loan of a ‘sculptor’ (maker of images) is requested. In the first part of the contribution, interpretations suggested by various scholars on this topic are analyzed; in the second part, a revision of the original text is proposed and some different hypotheses are taken into account.
